Hours a year, by role
How we calculate this, and the sources
- Team and clients: the median wealth-management RIA in each size band (firms with more than half their assets from individual clients), from SEC Form ADV data, October 2026. Advisory staff is Item 5B(1); support staff is total employees minus advisory staff; clients are individual and high-net-worth clients.
- Review meetings: 2 per client a year, the pattern in the Kitces Research 2024 Study on Advisor Productivity.
- New clients: 0 a year, at 2.1% of clients, the median net client growth across 14,000+ RIAs (Paithos Research, RIA Signals Report, 2026 Q3).
- Minutes per task: our estimate of how long each task takes by hand today, listed for every role above. Daily tasks count 230 working days.
- Support staff time is split evenly between client service and operations work. Compliance and owner work is counted once per firm.
- Check: routine advisor work comes to of an advisor’s 2,000-hour year.
- Cost: every hour is valued at a support hire’s cost, $62K to $85K a year fully loaded, the lowest rate, even for advisor time.
- Hours are before review time and rounded.

30 minutes on your team and where to start.
What is the Chief of Staff?
AI that reads your systems and starts each person’s day with what matters most. It hands routine work to AI Co-Workers and drafts everything for a person to approve.
What is an AI Co-Worker?
AI with one job, like meeting prep or account paperwork, trained on how your firm does it.
Do we have to replace our systems?
No. AI Co-Workers work inside the CRM, custodian, email, Teams and documents you already use.
Does anything go to a client without us?
No. Drafts wait for a person, and workflows like onboarding stop at “Waiting for your review” before anything goes out.
Where do the hours on this page come from?
Typical minutes per task, times how often it happens at your size: 230 working days, six client meetings per advisor a week. The 8,000 hours is one client’s measured result.
What does it cost?
It depends on your firm’s size and which work you hand over first. Contact us and we’ll walk through it on your numbers.
